

On Friday 3 March, Kibworth was part of a huge wave of prayer encircling the earth for at least 38 hours. It all began at dawn in Western Samoa and Tonga in the Pacific Ocean (when we were listening to the 6pm news on Thursday evening) and ended at dusk in American Samoa (when we were having our Saturday morning breakfast).

The monthly meeting of St Wilfrid’s Mothers’ Union took place on Thursday, 2 March. Following a communion service in the Church, the members adjourned to the hall for a talk. This was given by Janice Lunn and Yvonne Smith from the Leicestershire diocese. Their talk focused on the projects MU have become involved with during the seventy year reign of Queen Elizabeth II who had been the Patron of the MU organisation.

I expect a great many readers have visited this church not necessarily to worship but to look with wonder and awe at the numerous decorated Christmas Trees that form the now annual Burton Overy Christmas Tree Festival. This began back in the year 2000 and has been held annually except for the two years when Covid prevented it from happening.

The Bishop of Leicester is planning to use the weekends during Lent to make pilgrimages to many of the smaller churches in the Diocese. On Saturday 11 March he will be in Gartree Deanery, in the Chronicle’s locality, spending the day walking and praying at and in between different churches and communities. He will welcome companions to walk with him for all or part of the day or to meet him on the way to share in his time of prayer and walking.

Did your children love coming to Sparklers on Fridays? We had so much fun getting to know them and thought it would be great to reconnect. So we're starting a new Christian Youth Group in the Church Hall. The group is for young people who are turning 11 in year 6 up to age 14 years. This will take place once a month on a Sunday evening from 5:30-7:30pm. There will be food, probably pizza!
