At 100 years young, Bob Loughran still enjoys practicing on the driving range and a few holes of golf with his friend Frank. A member of KGC since 2012, known for his easy swing and even easier charm, Bob is the oldest active member of the club, still enjoying six holes usually twice a week, weather permitting.

Canine Partners is an organisation that transforms lives by training assistance dogs to support people with physical disabilities – many of whom rely on wheelchairs for daily mobility.

The beautiful voices of Tesserae filled the hall during our April meeting. This quartet consists of two sopranos and two contraltos and includes our treasurer, Clare Robinson-Hughes. They used to sing in an octet called Mosaic, with two tenors and two basses, until Covid hit. When meetings in groups of six or less were permitted, the ladies met up in their gardens and sang together - under a tree if it rained! They named their quartet Tesserae, after the individual tiles which make up a mosaic. (They have been mistakenly introduced as “Tresemme” - the hair product!)

Paul Maslowski knew that he had found what he was looking for when, in1996, he saw a Chinese artist demonstrating Chinese painting and Calligraphy at the Leicester Chinese Community Centre. Following this, he began to study Chinese Brush Painting under instruction from the very best of practitioners in Leicester. Paul was enthused further about Chinese poetry and traditional culture. After years of serious study in Taiwan and China, he continues to study Calligraphy and Painting with Taiwanese, Chinese and European artists. His work has won him national and international recognition.
