My parents, Len and Edna Bowden, met in London when my mum was 15. Three years later on 28 October 1961, they got married in Hendon and settled into married life in Northamptonshire. My sister Angie and I were born there and then we moved to Kibworth in the mid-seventies. 

The clocks have gone back, the nights are drawing in and the first signs of Christmas are appearing in the shops.

The Guelder Rose – Viburnum opulus

Antisocial behaviour (ASB) incidents have increased over the last three years. Police forces, councils and housing associations are reporting significant spikes in ASB cases. These are not minor incidents. Instead, they are complex and serious cases causing real harm to many people. 

Christmas is fast approaching and so is our Christmas Fayre! It’s to be held on Saturday 27 November at 2 - 4.30pm in Smeeton Westerby Village Hall.

The gates opened at 5.30pm on Saturday and two and a half thousand people arrived at the event. The Scouts and Guides made guys for the bonfire that roared in the stiff breeze at 6.15pm.

Driving along the A6 the other morning I glanced briefly towards the closed gates of Kibworth Recycling and Household Waste site (known to all as ‘The Tip’) and immediately came to mind the lyrics of the well-known Joni Mitchell song ‘Big Yellow Taxi’, in particular the line,
