Born and bred in Leicestershire, one of my earliest childhood memories was of accompanying my father to the Council Offices in Thurnby. To a young child it felt like a place you didn’t mess about in. I knew it was an important place in my father’s eyes, but never understood why. I think he went there to pay his rates. 

On 10 May this year The National Gallery(NG), Trafalgar Square, London celebrated 200 years of bringing people and paintings together.

Do we dare to hope that summer is finally starting to peek at us from around the corner?   The month started with a rare sunny bank holiday weekend, when thoughts probably turned to gardening and barbeques – lovely!

Wednesday 15 May was when I handed over the chairman’s chains after two fantastic years representing the 712,000 citizens of Leicestershire.

What is better than one medal? Two! Jessica Savage, a seventeen year old cheerleader from Kibworth, is celebrating this double success with her cheerleading squads from ‘Elite Storm’ along with their coaches Leanne and Ellie.
