presents at Kibworth Community Hub (formerly Kibworth Grammar School Hall) on Saturday 27 April from 7.30pm the experienced four-piece fun band ‘The Smiler’ consisting of four locals. The lead guitarist is from Foxton and plays tennis at the club. They will be playing classics and anthems from the 60s onwards. Music definitely to make you smile!

For many people, spring marks the beginning of the golf season. As the weather warms up and daylight hours extend, golf enthusiasts eagerly anticipate hitting the course again. The greenkeepers are beginning to wonder if a different spring has sprung on the course with the excessive rain that we have witnessed! However, we remain certain that brighter days are ahead.

Easter tide, but why is the title of this seminal festival unrelated to the event which is commemorated? Answer: Christianity was very adept at poaching titles from pagan sources. Eastre was a heathen goddess whose festival was in spring, hence the bunnies and eggs, not the stone being rolled away and a time when millions around the world meet on this day – Easterday. Easter time lasts till Whitsun (50 days).

As a crew, we always do our best to keep the local community safe and to provide support and education. We deliver this in a variety of ways. Identifying local risks and performing site visits to help mitigate against these issues. Providing targeted training sessions and carrying out home safety checks. Organising community safety events such as the tyre health checks and road safety event we hosted in the Co-Op car park last month.

It has been a busy time at the Hub just lately. In March, we had our AGM. Martyn, the Chair, reported that conditions remain challenging, mostly due to the costs of utilities and staffing. However, the hall remains well used and we are confident that the future is bright, especially as we continue to develop our relationship with the library.

On 20 March, Kibworth Primary School's Year 5 students visited St Wilfrid's Church to experience 'The Road to Calvary', and learn about the final days of Jesus' life before his crucifixion on Good Friday, and about his resurrection on Easter Sunday.
