Kibworth Bowling Club - Jan '25

The Club has begun the new bowling year with our annual visit to Potters Resort, Hopton-on-Sea, where the World Indoor Bowls Championships were taking place. As always, we were really impressed by the bowling skills demonstrated by the players and hope to be as good one day! We thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and were able to partake in a wide range of other activities, including snooker, swimming, quizzes and line dancing. The evening entertainment was first class and the food plentiful.

Jacob Hudson's talk

The Foxton Society will be holding a joint event with the Foxton Adventure Scouts on Monday 3 February, 8pm in the Robert Monk Hall. The event will be a talk by Foxton’s very own Jacob Hudson, who, with a fellow explorer, travelled the length of an uncharted Amazon river and picked up two Guinness World records along the way. It promises to be extremely interesting. After the talk, the Foxton Society will hold a very short AGM with nibbles.

Kibworth Harcourt Post Mill Christmas Lights

Volunteers at the mill, ably assisted by staff from the SPAB who own the mill, had an enjoyable morning getting into the festive spirit whilst affixing colourful new Christmas lights to the sails. The bright lights were kindly donated by Steven Briggs of the Windmill Farm Park, and can be seen from as far afield as Gumley Top!

The Mirror and The Light in Leicestershire

Are you watching the BBC television series ‘The Mirror and The Light’, the third part of Hilary Mantel’s epic story Wof Hall? In this production Mark Rylance gives an imaculate nuanced performance as the ever thoughtful Thomas Cromwell. It is interesting to note that Cromwell, who with his son Gregory have a strong connection to Leicestershire especially with nearby Launde Abbey.
